Dear Birth mother,
Our names are Michelle and Gene. We appreciate you taking the time to read our portfolio. We hope that you will accept us as adoptive parents of your child. We have no idea what you are going through, but hope that you will make the right decision for you and your child. We can tell you that we will be nurturing parents who will provide a stable home and loving environment to the beautiful child you brought into this world.
We met at a friend's wedding about nine years ago and married two years later. We have tried for many years to have children without success. We would love more than anything to become parents.
Michelle graduated from college in 1999 with a degree in nursing and Gene graduated from college in 2000 with a degree in heating and air conditioning. Michelle works as a RN for Anchorage Fracture and Orthopedic Clinic. Gene works for Shaw through the Union as a heating and air conditioning service tech. We have been in Alaska for 5 years together, and Gene has been here for six years prior.
We live in a three bedroom split entry home in a nice subdivision in Eagle River. There are a lot of children in our area that run around and ride bikes. There are two parks, each about 1 1/2 blocks away from our house for the kids to play. We have a nice fenced in yard as well.
Our families and friends are very supportive of our decision to adopt. Gene has a brother who had his first child in June of 2008. Gene's brother and parents are excited about the possibility of adopting a child to join the family. Michelle has two sisters and two brothers. Michelle also has two nieces and a nephew on her side of the family. Her parents and siblings are looking forward to welcoming another child into the family.
Gene is a wonderful man who is going to make a great father. All the kids he encounters just love him. Probably because he is a big kid himself and enjoys making the kids laugh. He enjoys playing Santa on Christmas Eve and seeing all the kids' eyes light up when he walks into the room. He also enjoys woodworking, hunting and fishing. We only eat the meat we harvest. Gene is a big brother through Big Brothers Big Sisters. He also enjoys playing softball.
Michelle adores children. She grew up with a lot of kids in her family. Michelle will make a wonderful mother. Michelle made a big accomplishment last year, and received her RN. She is a very compassionate and loving person. Michelle also enjoys playing volleyball and softball.
Our hobbies include bike riding, ballroom dancing, hunting, fishing, and watching movies when the weather outside is frozen. We have two dogs- Koda, a German Shepard, and Chloe, a collie/keeshond mix. Michelle has had Chloe from a pup, rescuing her from the pound. We rescued Koda from Seattle at one year of age. Both dogs love children and are very friendly. We take them for walks and hikes and just play with them in general. We enjoy having them in our lives. They are our four legged children. We also have an indoor rabbit named Norton whom we have had since she was a baby. Norton and the dogs play all the time and it is fun to watch this unusual group of friends. Another hobby is our 120 gallon salt water fish tank. We have six fish, some crabs, and a number of snails. It is so relaxing to sit, watch and listen to the tank. It is beautiful, relaxing and peaceful.
We can't imagine how difficult it must be for you to make this decision. We want you to know we are capable and eager to take on the role as parents.
